Monsignor Ghaleb Bader, Archbishop of Algeria celebrated the mass with the Latin Patriarchal Seminary family, priests, sisters, deacons, and seminary students.At the beginning of the mass, Fr William Shomali, Rector of the Seminary, addressed a welcoming speech to Bishop Ghaleb Bader for his first visit to the Seminary after his Episcopal ordination in last July 2008. As a response to that, Monsignor Ghaleb Bader expressed feelings of gratitude and overwhelm to the Seminary which witnessed many stories of vocations. |

The Holy Sepulcher Church celebrated the Exaltation of the Cross at the Calvary alter in the Holy Sepulcher, on Sunday September 14th 2008.Fr. Artemio Vitores ofm, Custodial Vicar, presided the liturgy, where he reminded the faithful of the origins of the feast. It is worth mentioning that on September 14th 335, the Holy Sepulcher was dedicated by an order from the emperor Constantine. |

September 5th 2008 was the feast of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta. On this occasion, Pope Benedict XVI received from Archbishop and the mayor of the city of Skopje in Macedonia, where Mother Teresa was born, a three meter bronze statue of Blessed Mother Teresa.The Supreme Pontiff presented the statue as a gift to a parish church under construction in Rome, for it carries the name of Mother Teresa from Calcutta.It is worth noting that a Macedonian artist carved the statue, as an indication for the sacrifices of Mother Teresa, the holder of hope to the poor ones and Jesus' preacher.We ask Blessed Mother Teresa to pray for our weakness. |

The local Pastoral Catholic Committee in Jordan held its first meeting of the new term, headed by Archbishop Salim Sayeg, Latin Patriarchal Vicar of Jordan last Wednesday, August 27th 2008 in the Latin Vicariate in Jordan. New members of the Pastoral Committee gathered from different Catholic churches in Jordan as: Latin, Greek Catholic, Maronites, Syrian Catholics, and Chaldeans.The participants opened the Committee Works highlighting on the history of the Pastoral Committee from the beginnings, passing through the goals achieved, and gave a look towards the future. The meeting also introduced a new mechanism of the Committee's work in term of communication and organization of work, looking forward to the possible ways of activating the participation of different groups and taking the responsibilities under the common pastoral work. |
