Teens for a United World PDF הדפסה שליחה

While Israel celebrates 60 years of independence, and Palestinians remember 60 years of injustice, other groups try to build up bridges between the two sides. Teens for a United World, a group of adolescents of the Focolare Movement, organized a race for peace. The teenagers ran for a few kilometres along Hof-Carmel shore, in Haifa, on the 11th of May, 2008.

This was just the latest activity of Teens for a United World. They participate throughout the year in many different programs, like sport tournaments, concerts, and peace marches.
The event gathered more than 450 teens from different backgrounds and religions, Christians, Muslims, and Jews from Israel and Palestinian Territories. Instead of focusing on what divides them, Teens for a United World look for the common ground between them.
Beside the race, games, dances, sketches and other forms of artistic expressions were included in the program. Participants shared about their life to testify that, despite the critical political situation of the Holy Land, peace is possible.
These teens' aim is to live to construct a united world, spreading a culture of giving and sharing peace, extending a rainbow of fraternity over the people of the Holy Land, by breaking barriers and removing obstacles. A high call, but one that might help contrasting the culture of violence and division now present in the Holy Land.
Mr.Yona Yahav, Mayor of Haifa, and Bishop Marcuzzo, Patriarchal Vicar for Israel, were invited to the activity. They expressed their happiness in attending the meeting, and their hope for a better future.
