Patriarch Fouad Twal inaugurates the Medical Caritas Centre in Aboud

His Beatitude Patriarch Fouad Twal, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, inaugurated on September 10th 2008 the Caritas Medical Centre in the village of Aboud, which is located 16 kilometers to the northwest of the city of Ramallah at a cost of one and a half million US dollars from the International Caritas Foundation. His Beatitude Fouad Twal gave his blessings for the construction on the occasion of the inauguration. Mr. Jamil Khoury, the director of the Health department in the foundation pointed out that the centre consists of many advanced medical services which provide a full range of acute care and initial services to the citizens, such as x-ray examinations, treatment of skin diseases, ophthalmology, and a department of Osteoporosis treatment, in addition of a delivery room.Mr. Khoury added that the centre is considered as an extension to the Caritas Medical Clinic in the village of Aboud, which was providing its services to the citizens for 17 years.Mr. Khoury continued elaborating that the centre is a non-profit unit, which is open to all citizens - whether people having health insurance or not - with a minimal cost of  2-3 shekels per patient.It is worth noting that the centre is to serve more than 30 thousand citizens in 11 nearby villages, which spare the people from travelling to the city of Ramallah for receiving the treatment.Many officials and representatives, most important Dr. Rafiq Husseini, the chief of the office of the President, participated in the inauguration of the medical centre. Dr. Husseini asserted on the importance of the centre that aims to develop the health status of the village, providing quality services to the patients. Dr. Husseini also added that the centre will serve all the Palestinian citizens: Christians and Moslems, and this will increase the unity and harmony among the Palestinian people, in addition of saving time, effort and employs labour.
