The Chaldean Catholic Church celebrated the ceremony of conferring the Holy Eucharist; the First Communion for 23 boys and girls, of their community, on Friday August 8th 2008, at the Church of The Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tlaa' Al-Ali in Amman, Jordan.
His Excellency Mons. Ghaleb Bader, Archbishop of Algeria, presided the ceremonial mass along with Fr. Remon Moussalli, Patriarchal Vicar of the Chaldeans in Jordan, with a number of deacons and a group of faithful. |

The General Assembly of the Focolare Movement arrived to a decision concerning the construction of a cultural centre called: the Chiara Lubich Centre.Its purpose will be to conserve and make available, to the whole movement and to the public, now and in the future, the extremely rich patrimony, of letters, talks, documents, and audio and video recordings, that Chiara left during her life.There are 8,000 video recordings and 22,000 audio recordings that conserve the movement’s important moments, and speeches given by Chiara on variety of occasions. The work of cataloguing hundreds of paper files of talks, letters and documents had already begun several years ago.Eli Folonari, Chiara’s personal secretary for over 50 the years, was granted the management of the centre. |

In occasion of the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, a ceremonial mass was held at Mount Tabor, last Wednesday August 6th 2008, presided by the Custos of the Holy Land, Fr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, along with Fr. Amjad Sabbara, parish priest of Nazareth, as well as a large number of priests and clergy men who came from different regions. |

Brother Daniel Casey, FSC, former President and Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University in the Holy Land, died peacefully in the United States on Wednesday, July 30th 2008, where he had gone in January to receive treatment for a recurrence of cancer.Brother Robert Smith, Interim Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University said: "Earlier this month, I was able to visit Brother Daniel in the USA. We had a wonderful thoughtful, joyful conversation for about one and a half hours. He talked comfortably and as a man of deep faith about his death; he was ready to meet God".A memorial thanksgiving mass will be held in the coming days at the University Chapel to pray for Brother Casey's rest.
