Our Lady of Palestine celebrated at Deir Rafat Sanctuary |

His Beatitude Patriarch Fouad Twal, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, presided a celebrating mass in Deir Rafat Sanctuary, on the occasion of the feats of Our Lady of Palestine on Sunday, October 26th 2008, where the Catholic population of the Holy Land solemnly honors the Queen of Palestine.
Celebrating the mass with the Patriarch were his Excellency, Bishop Boulos Marcuzzo, Latin Patriarchal Vicar of Israel along with other priests from the Latin Seminary and guests. Knights of the Holy Sepulcher, as well as Sr. Francesca Batato, Superior of Deir Rafat Sanctuary attended the mass, in addition to 3000 faithful, who came from the entire region, Palestine and Israel to participate in the feast. The Patriarch's Homily His Beatitude Fouad Twal addressed a homily, requesting Virgin Mary's intercession for the people of the Holy Land, Iraq and India, he also stressed on the need to pray for the establishment of justice, peace, and human rights all over the world.Furthermore, he talked about his participation in the Synod of Bishops, which was held recently in Rome and was dedicated to the Holy Bible and the Word of God.It is worth noting that the choir of the Latin Seminary in Beit-Jala animated the mass. A procession around the sanctuary followed the mass, where the members of the Legion of Mary from Jaffa of Nazareth Parish carried the statue of Virgin Mary, with hearts filled of joy. |
