In the midst of a solemn welcoming, the procession of his beatitude Patriarch Fouad Twal, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, arrived to the village of Zababdeh that lies on the south of the city Jenin, where his beatitude inaugurated the Latin Church of Visitation, and presided a celebrating mass over there.

Mr. Victor Khader Sa'eed, the mayor of the village attended the mass too, in addition of a group of clergymen, as well as a number of knights of the Equestrian Order preceded by Jeries Sharben and his family, whom he donated generously for the renovation of the church, in collaboration with a number of Zababdeh residents. Patriarch's homily His Beatitude addressed a meaningful homily, which he started by thanking the parish of Zababdeh, its priest, and all the people of the town who welcomed him warmly. He also called for in tensing the efforts in the village to benefit of the young people, in order to plant in them the seeds of love for their homeland, and to spread a glimmer of hope and promise in their hearts, thus decreasing the immigration of the Christian Palestinians. Moreover, the Patriarch highlighted on the use of the talents that the Lord has put in us for the righteousness, and the goodness of all for the benefit of the body of Christ "Church". His Beatitude also asserted to put the interests of all as a priority, hence being in the service to each other: "It is very important for every member to know his talent and to use it and be responsible of developing it." Then, he gave an example of the early Christians and their participation among themselves, thanking Mr. Jeries Sharben and his family in particular, and asking God to give them good health and strength. About the Church The church closed its doors for six months because of maintenance work and renovation. It worked for strengthening its foundations, in addition to the ceiling refurbishment, as well of the installation of a new electrical system. The renewal came to accomplish the need of expansion of the church from the inside, to be an appropriate place with the current number of Christians, and a better allocation for the Choir and the new cupboards and shelves. |
